Description

The European Commission has issued a request for proposals under the European Maritime, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), with the EU contributing EUR 2.6 million. The appeal aims to improve scientific understanding in order to strengthen the scientific basis of management decisions made under the European Fisheries Policy (CFP).

The main goal of the call is to foster the development and enhancement of scientific knowledge required for CFP-supported fisheries conservation and management activities. Priorities for this request include strengthening policy-oriented fisheries science, making better use of scientific data collected, and improving collaboration between scientists and the fisheries sector. The call also emphasises the need of assisting the EU scientific community in developing and maintaining the necessary competence to deliver high-quality scientific advice on fisheries issues.
