Wind Power Package - Winds of change?

During her 2023 State of the Union address, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed the crucial role of the wind industry in delivering the EU Green Deal, but also remarked that the industry is facing a unique set of challenges.

To address them, the European Commission announced it will put forward a new European Wind Power Package, which is set to be presented on 24 October.

In her speech, the Commission President said that the package will aim to fast-track permitting more than current legislation does, improve auction systems across the EU, and focus on skills, access to finance, and stable supply chains.
