The EU Blue Economy Observatory (BEO), jointly managed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), is taking a bold step forward in shaping the future of Europe’s maritime sectors.

To boost its ability to deliver timely, granular, and actionable insights, the BEO is launching a Community of Practice (CoP) — a dynamic network of experts and stakeholders committed to advancing sustainable blue growth.

The CoP will:

  • 🔍 Advise on methodologies and data strategies
  • 📊 Identify gaps and priorities in socio-economic indicators
  • 🤝 Foster synergies across EU initiatives
  • 🧭 Support the BEO Steering Committee in setting strategic directions

This collaborative effort will enhance the Observatory’s role as a cornerstone for evidence-based decision-making in both established and emerging maritime sectors.

Selection process and timeline

  • Call open: 16 September 2025
  • Call close: 19 October 2025
  • Pre-selection: by the end of October 2025.

  • Kick-off meeting (virtual/in-person): First half of December 2025.

Join us in shaping the future of the EU Blue Economy — where data meets action for a sustainable ocean.
