The Commission has launched a call for applications to select members of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF).
The STECF members support the European Commission by delivering scientific advice before preparing legislative proposals in fisheries, aquaculture, and related matters and by monitoring the evolution of the common fisheries policy (CFP).
The deadline for applications is 30 November 2024.
Requirements
The Commission is looking for candidates with competence and experience at EU (including outermost regions) and / or international level in one or more of the following areas:
- Marine and fisheries biology, in relation to the implementation and evaluation of conservation policies;
- Ecosystem approach to fisheries management and its implementation, marine ecosystems and food webs, marine protected areas, by-catches of sensitive species, impact of climate change on fish stocks, invasive species;
- Technical knowledge of fishing techniques and fishing gear;
- Scientific data collection in support of the CFP;
- Conception, evaluation and assessment of (multi-annual) management plans;
- Social and/or economic analysis of the fisheries, aquaculture and processing sectors, markets and the supply chain;
- Aquaculture.
