Shipbuilding survey and its energy transition potential

The European Commission, in collaboration with the Fishing Shipbuilding working group of the Energy Transition Partnership (ETP), has launched a survey to gather quantitative data on the capacity of European shipyards to support the energy transition in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

The survey, titled "Survey to assess the Capacity of Shipyards for the energy transition of Fisheries and aquaculture", aims to assess the capacity and interest of European shipyards in retrofitting and building low-carbon fishing and aquaculture vessels. The data collected will inform the development of a future Energy Transition roadmap for EU Fisheries and aquaculture to be published in the first half of 2026, ensuring a sustainable and resilient sector that can thrive in a changing environment.

The European Commission has launched this survey to better understand the shipbuilding industry's current state and its potential to contribute to the energy transition in the sector. Your participation will help us identify the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth, ultimately shaping the future of EU Fisheries and aquaculture.

Participation in this survey is completely voluntary, all responses will be anonymous and kept strictly confidential. No identifiable information will be shared, ensuring that the identities of people and companies remain fully protected throughout and after the survey process.
