Description
“The EU fish market” aims at providing an economic description of the whole European fisheries and aquaculture industry. It replies to questions such as what is produced/exported/imported, when and where, what is consumed, by whom and what are the main trends. A comparative analysis allows to assess the performance of fishery and aquaculture products in the EU market compared with other food products. In this report, value and price variations for periods longer than five years are analysed by deflating values using the GDP deflator (base=2015); for shorter periods, nominal value and price variations are analysed. This publication is one of the services delivered by the European Market Observatory for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA). This edition is based on data available as of November 2024. The analyses included in this report do not take into account possible updates occurred in the sources used after this date. More detailed and complementary data are available in the EUMOFA database: by species, place of sale, Member State, partner country. Data are updated daily. EUMOFA, developed by the European Commission, represents one of the tools of the Market Policy in the framework of the Common Fisheries Policy. [Regulation (EU) No 1379/2013 on the common organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products, Article 42]. As a market intelligence tool, EUMOFA provides regular weekly indicators, monthly market trends and annual structural data along the supply chain. The database is based on data provided and validated by Member States and European institutions. It is available in all 24 EU languages. EUMOFA website, publicly available as from April 2013, can be accessed at www.eumofa.eu.
